1927 Easter Tour
Before the war the Dulwich Hamlet annual Easter tour, usually to the continent, was a fixture everyone at the club looked forward to. Countries visited included Holland, Germany, Spain and Belgium
For the 1926/27 season the first team journeyed to the Danish capital of Copenhagen. Three matches were played over the long weekend against the city's top two sides and a combined eleven.
Kjobenhavns Boldlkub were beaten 1-0 in the first game, followed by a high scoring 3-3 draw with Boldklubben 1903. The final match, a KB/B1903 combination, saw another draw, with both sides getting two goals apiece.
In the Dulwich team were the legendary Edgar Kail, George Lewis, captain Dick Jonas, Bill Caesar, Alf Solly in goal and a ringer in JG Knight of the Casuals.
The photo was taken at a match played at at Københavns Idrætspark but it is not clear who the Hamlet's opposition is. Dulwich are wearing their usual pink and blue stripes. However, B1903's colours were black and white stripes and KB played in blue and white stripes, so there was probably a change of strip due to the colour clash.
We have in our collection an autographed post match dinner menu signed by many of the players from all the sides.
KB and B1903 merged in 1992 to form the present day FC Copenhagen.
